Dells Pond is a 622 acre lake created in 1890 by damming the Chippewa River. The original purpose of the pond was for log storage and sorting for the many lumber mills that existed in Eau Claire at that time. Today the dam and pond provide hydro power and water for a paper mill that is one of Eau Claire’s larger employers. Dells Pond also has a number of parks along its shore and is a popular hangout and fishing spot.
