Eau Claire River/ Uniroyal Tire

I managed to wander off without my camera this morning, so all a have for you today is a quick cellphone snap of the Eau Claire River. It was an absolutely stunning day today and with temps in the 40’s the bike riding was great.

The building in the distance with the smoke stack was a tire plant from 1917 to 1992, for much of that time the plant was owned by Uniroyal and was the largest employer in Eau Claire. In 1965 it was the third largest tire plant in America and during World War II 4,000 people were employed there making tires for the war effort.

Nowadays the plant is known as Banbury Place and serves a wide variety of tenants with everything from office space to heavy industrial space available.
