I’d like to point out that the recent SCOTUS decision and Iowa’s current policies towards abortion will work to continue this decline. The politicians claiming to be Saving Iowa and keeping conservatives in power with these polices are actually helping to shift the population and the balance of economic and political power away from rural Iowa and towards the cities along the eastern third of the state; cities that are more liberal than rural Iowa and are close to Illinois and Minnesota where abortions will remain available.
