The sky’s dark and overcast. The weather’s cold. There’s a pandemic on. Got a friend on chemo. I don’t even want to know what our elected and economic “leaders” are up too… But, we’ll get though this thing. I’ve got chicken and rice soup on the stove, oatmeal cookies in the oven, and Charles MingusContinue reading “One Day At A Time”
I’m the kind of person that has to get outside and go for a little adventure at least every couple of days or I start to go a little crazy. It doesn’t have to be a big thing, matter of fact it’s doing lots of little things that start at my front door: just closeContinue reading “Everyday Adventure- Putnam Park”
Based on a lot of the photos I post you could get the impression that I live in the countryside, or maybe a small town. But, I actually live in a city. Eau Claire has a population of about 68K. Outside of the city limits things are rural or small towns, so Eau Claire servesContinue reading “Yes, I Actually Live In A City”
I got to goofing around with the sunset shot I posted the other day, no real idea with where I was going with it just goofing off, and I decided I liked what I came up with.
The The Acoustic Cafe is one of just about everyone around here’s favorite places. The Acoustic serves up wonderful sandwiches, soups, and baked goods- their cinnamon rolls are The Bomb. In a normal year snow would have ended my days of bombing dirt roads on a road bike by now. But, it seems even the weather can’t be normal in 2020. The current forecast has a couple of 40 degree days in mid December in it. This is just strange.
The weather around here has been a bit miserable lately, but today marked a wonderful change with temps in the mid 20’s and it was wonderfully crisp and sunny. As is usually the case on days like today I took a spin around town on my bike and as is also usually the case IContinue reading “Blowing Out The Sunset”
We had an absolutely stunning day today and with afternoon temps in the low 50’s there was nothing better than breaking out the road bike and taking it for a spin around town. Some people may balk at the whole #optoutside deal, and yes, obviously, people were using the day after Thanksgiving for outdoor adventuresContinue reading “Opted Outside”
Hi all, there’s not much to report on the blog front. Posting should start to pickup next week as we get though the last bit of awful weather and the tail end of Brown Season. In the meantime, I found an info graphic on The Rails To Trail Conservancy’s Twitter account that I thought I’dContinue reading “Recreate Responsibly”
Have I mentioned I live in farm country? Eau Claire’s at the northern end of the Driftless area, which is mostly small small towns and small (by modern Midwestern standards) farms. And lots of rolling hills. This was taken about 10 miles south of town.
