That’s Schofield Hall on the University Of Wisconsin at Eau Claire campus hiding in the trees. It’s named for the first President of the University, Harvey Schofield. The building was designed by the architects Van Ryn & Degelleke. Built in 1914 it was the first building on the campus. Today Schofield Hall houses administrative offices.

Like A Bridge Over…
I have scads of version of this same shot. Lots of different foot bridges and treatments, but the basic shot is one I seem to never grow tired of.
If You’re Going To Live In Farm Country, You Might As Well Have A Tractor Seat!
The original saddle on my Surly Bridge Club did not fit me at all, so I swapped it out for a Brooks C15 . I thought the C15 might be a little too narrow, but the saddle on my road bike was going to need replacing soon and if it didn’t work on the BridgeContinue reading “If You’re Going To Live In Farm Country, You Might As Well Have A Tractor Seat!”
Receptacle/ Don’t Take The Advice
Despite having taken a couple botany classes in college and this bit of a plant having a common enough name, I had to go back and look it up. College was a long time ago. 😊 The usual advise on sharing photos is to only show your best. It’s not a bit of advise thatContinue reading “Receptacle/ Don’t Take The Advice”
Pretty Afternoon In Eau Claire
It was an absolutely beautiful day today and rather warm for February in Wisconsin. I feel lucky that I got to spend some time outside and get some sun on my face.
Always Wondered About That Steeple

I finally got around to doing a little digging around about it tonight and turns out that originally there was a dome whereContinue reading “Always Wondered About That Steeple”
Finally Got Some Ice On The River
Up until the Polar Vortex hit us we’d had a freakishly warm winter and no river ice, which is a two-fold bummer for me as the coming of river ice generally means wintering Bald Eagles are easier to see as they gather at places where there are openings in the river ice and because IContinue reading “Finally Got Some Ice On The River”
A Dark And Snowy Day
I don’t remember what the temperature was on the day I took this, but I remember it feeling much colder than it really was. It was also dark and overcast that day. I think this photo picks up that cold, dark, and overcast winters day vibe well.
Digging The Blues
Generally speaking, I’m not one for overcast winter days. But, this winter has been super overcast and I’m rather enjoying “finding the photo” that’s hidden in my very low contrast, low/flat colored surroundings.
Pretty Morning
I took this the other day while walking to the library to pickup a book. And people wonder why I don’t drive very often… Once you start to see all the beauty you miss while riding in a car it become quite hard to convince yourself to get back in your car.
