Sunday Tramp
Normally on a warm for Wisconsin winter’s Sunday, with a bright blue sky above, I’d be out on my bicycle. But, this winter I’m pretty into taking tramps around town and while it was a warm and sunny Sunday it was also fairly humid and I just can not stay warm in cold temps withContinue reading “Sunday Tramp”
Maximum Sunshine
I’m originally from the Seattle area, AKA the darkest place in the lower 48. Which isn’t so great when you have a fairly whopping dose of Seasonal Effective Disorder. When I decided to move out of the Pacific Northwest moving to a place with more light in the wintertime was one of my top criteria.Continue reading “Maximum Sunshine”
The Fungi Are Taking Over!!!
It’s starting to look like a bad sci-fi film around here…
It Was Cold, Dark, And Damp, So I Went For A Tramp
On most Sundays I go for a spin on my bike, but today started out with heavy overcast, temps in the mid-20’s, humid, and damp. With the humidity up once you get a littleContinue reading “It Was Cold, Dark, And Damp, So I Went For A Tramp”
Otter Creek
Otter Creek is about a 2 mile trail system maintained by our local mountain biking club in Centennial Park in Altoona, a small town attached to the east side of Eau Claire. It had been a while since I’d been down that way, so I took a fun little spin though the trails today.
Worst Weather Ever
33 degrees, rain, and wind. Plus, we still have snow from a few days back hanging around in the form of several inches of half melted slush. Today will be a stay inside and read a book day. I’m looking forward to winter showing up for real and our whisky-bright 10 degree mornings.
‘Bout That Time Of The Year
I don’t know why it is, but whenever I ride my bike in cold temps my nose runs. Constantly. When winter time rolls around I pull out a big stack of bandanas and keep them in a handy spot by my bike so I won’t forget one when I roll out the door.
First Snow
This will melt off shortly, but the snow’s been coming down good for the last few hours and I always like to document the first snow of the year. The bike in the second pic has 2.4” mountain bike tires on it and does just fine in a little snow. When winter shows up forContinue reading “First Snow”
‘Bout That Time
Fall has definitely come to Wisconsin and with our shorter days, softer light, and lingering twilights it’s time to think about putting some lights on our bikes. Generally, my advise on lights is to go with USB rechargeable ones. But, with every rule there is an exception and in this case the exception is theContinue reading “‘Bout That Time”
