It was freakishly warm today, temps in the mid 50’s, so I headed out of town on my bike to do a little exploring. First stop was Bullhead Pond, which I’ve been to many time before and is a great hangout. Next I headed for the Eau Claire County Forest, which is just down theContinue reading “Poking Around East Of Town”

UWEC Dorm
I’m, generally, not one for tweaking with photos much. But, I do like this quite heavily edited shot of one of the dorms on the University Of Wisconsin at Eau Claire’s campus and the Chippewa River.
Water Street Bridge
The last photo from my last session of night shots. The Water Street Bridge tends to give my camera fits as, for some reason, it’s hard to get the white balance right and I never think to bring a white sheet of paper along with me to manually set the white balance.
Ooo… I Like This One
I didn’t get much sleep on election night and ended up accidentally falling asleep for a couple hours in the late afternoon on Wednesday. Which meant that when bedtime came around I was wide awake. So, I grabbed my camera and tripod and went out to kill a couple hours taking night shots. Tonight wasContinue reading “Ooo… I Like This One”
Stillness On The Chippewa
Heading down to the Chippewa River and watching daylight fade to dusk was a much needed respite from the last couple days of craziness and anxiety. Cycling home with the last little bit of dusk dying around me I wondered if plugging back into the world was really worth the bother.
Eau Claire River/ Uniroyal Tire
I managed to wander off without my camera this morning, so all a have for you today is a quick cellphone snap of the Eau Claire River. It was an absolutely stunning day today and with temps in the 40’s the bike riding was great. The building in the distance with the smoke stack wasContinue reading “Eau Claire River/ Uniroyal Tire”
Otter Creek
Otter Creek is about a 2 mile trail system maintained by our local mountain biking club in Centennial Park in Altoona, a small town attached to the east side of Eau Claire. It had been a while since I’d been down that way, so I took a fun little spin though the trails today.
Bullhead Pond
Bullhead pond is a neat little spot a few miles east of Eau Claire. The photo was taken a couple weeks back when fall colors were at their peak.
The Mill
This is my latest photo of the paper mill I mentioned in yesterday’s Dells Pond post. I take a lot of pictures of the mill and will talk more about it in a future post.
Dells Pond
Dells Pond is a 622 acre lake created in 1890 by damming the Chippewa River. The original purpose of the pond was for log storage and sorting for the many lumber mills that existed in Eau Claire at that time. Today the dam and pond provide hydro power and water for a paper mill thatContinue reading “Dells Pond”
